Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings) – 10/10 Captaincy Excellence
Shreyas Iyer has been the standout captain this season. Leading Punjab Kings to the top of the table, he has shown complete control over matches.
His captaincy stands out because of:
- Clear and calm decision-making
- Excellent use of bowlers in key moments
- Ability to maintain consistency across matches
Punjab Kings are not just winning—they are dominating, and that reflects Iyer’s leadership quality.
Rajat Patidar (RCB) – 9/10 Quiet but Effective
Rajat Patidar has been one of the most underrated captains this season. With RCB sitting second and maintaining a strong net run rate, his leadership has been highly effective.
He has focused on:
- Maintaining team balance
- Backing players in pressure situations
- Keeping strategies simple and clear
Patidar may not be in the spotlight, but his results speak for themselves.
Pat Cummins (SRH) – 8.5/10 Strong and Structured
Pat Cummins has brought discipline and structure to Sunrisers Hyderabad. His captaincy is based on control and understanding match situations.
He has done well in:
- Handling bowling resources
- Reading pitch conditions
- Managing pressure moments
SRH’s stable position reflects consistent leadership.
Riyan Parag (Rajasthan Royals) – 8/10 Bold Leadership
Riyan Parag has taken on captaincy responsibility with confidence. Rajasthan Royals have performed well overall, staying in the top half.
His leadership shows:
- Aggressive intent
- Willingness to take risks
- Confidence in team combinations
However, a few tactical decisions in close matches could have been better.
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans) – 6.5/10 Still Developing
Shubman Gill is still growing into his role as a captain. Gujarat Titans have had mixed results, reflecting inconsistency in leadership.
Positive aspects:
- Good match starts
- Calm presence on the field
Challenges:
- Finishing matches strongly
- Handling pressure situations
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings) – 6/10 Transition Phase
Ruturaj Gaikwad is leading a team with a strong legacy, which brings added pressure. His captaincy has shown promise but lacks consistency.
He has:
- Maintained composure
- Shown good individual performance
But struggles with:
- Adapting quickly during matches
- Making bold decisions when needed
Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals) – 6/10 Balanced but Inconsistent
Axar Patel has brought a calm and composed approach to Delhi Capitals. The team has shown flashes of good performance but lacks consistency.
His leadership includes:
- Smart bowling usage
- Balanced approach
However, inconsistency in results has kept DC in the middle of the table.
Ajinkya Rahane (Kolkata Knight Riders) – 5.5/10 Lacking Momentum
Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy has been steady but not impactful enough. KKR has struggled to convert opportunities into wins.
Key concerns:
- Lack of aggressive decision-making
- Difficulty in closing matches
The team has potential but lacks momentum.
Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians) – 5/10 Under Pressure
Hardik Pandya’s captaincy has been one of the biggest talking points this season. Mumbai Indians are near the bottom, and leadership has been questioned.
Issues include:
- Inconsistent decisions
- Poor handling of pressure
- Lack of clear strategy
While Hardik has leadership qualities, this season has exposed areas that need improvement.
Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants) – 4.5/10 Struggling Season
Rishabh Pant has had a difficult season as captain of Lucknow Super Giants. The team is at the bottom of the table, reflecting ongoing struggles.
Problems include:
- Lack of team balance
- Poor execution in key moments
- Inconsistent decision-making
Pant’s aggressive style has not translated into results this season.
Where’s Patidar in the Captaincy Debate?
While players like Iyer and Hardik dominate discussions, Rajat Patidar’s performance is often overlooked.
RCB’s strong position proves that:
- Consistency matters more than hype
- Calm leadership delivers results
- Simplicity can be highly effective
Patidar deserves far more recognition in captaincy discussions.
